1000 elephants
This is my experience and experiments with a tamil movie that I came to see after some long gap.
To start with I really enjoyed a lot seeing this moive…. Better watch it with your would be???.. which I didn’t really do.
- The story started with our hero’s elderly character, for which, I think he would have seen some good kamal old role films (Nayagan, Indian). He learnt a lot from him and from his father(could be). Trying to imitate the old man’s gesture from good old movies was good !!!!
- Next is our hero’s youth role’s intro….this time differently from many other tamil masala film…. No fire blasts, no trembling BGM … but Menon had showed him from his birth.. which I liked…(could have not done better)
- Then as Asin for Ghajini … its sameera reddy (Meghana) for this movie… atleast “I” love to have this comparison …. She was there for good 40-45 minutes of the film……
- I swear that I didn’t see the movie for that 45 min.. was just gazing at her… even if she was not in the screen….
- Her intro was simply overwhelmed by her gorgeousness ….
- Meghana did her BE CSE in REC …this one fact uprooted my senses… (Madam neenga G1 a illa G2 va???)
- first half natural comedy was too good.
- Our hero’s action in the Chennai bound train was too good… great improvement in acting by suriya…
- locala solla numuna suriya supera valinchirukaru…
- She was topper…in REC…alagum, arvium sernthu par pathu.. arithae…. Her face remained in my eyes even hours after the movie ……
- Then she said she would do her master’s in UCB, SFO
- sanfranCISCO, sameera reddy, CSE … combination was one I really didn’t expect……..and took me slightly aback….
- suriya and meghana love was portrayed well in SFO
- None other than Menon could have showed
- BGM and songs were good
- Could sujatha’s dialogues have done better??... It was good for first have atleast…
- FIRST HALF WAS TOOOO GOOD…. Don’t MISS IT…
- Suriya’s body work out is good…. Some good effort to be appreciated
- then some troubling issues with the movie… is the title “VARANAM AAIYIRAM” – just for entertainment tax waiver, it would have been apt if the name was 1000 elephants
- Menon’s non tamil nativity was some time obvious in those unnecessary English dialogues through out the film…
- There was subscript for hindi dialogues(!!), but not for english dialogues(???). did the director expect that this is how every tamil family speaks. There are some good English dialogues in his(menon’s) earlier films.. I agree I loved it… but this is too much…
- Sir my humble request is to reduce English influence in your next works…
- Then the second half was dragged too long.. could have been remarkable work if it were 120 -150 minutes…
Other than some unnecessary increase of story in second half….and really unappreciated English dialogues…by and large this movie is good…
Worth watching again…(just first half)…
So as legends of tamil cinema’s of 80’s an 90’s withering off… now I am happy at least some part of tamil industry is in good hands…now…… (Am sick of seeing regular tamil masala film)
